Boyz n the hood is a 1991American coming into age hood film that was written and directed by john singleton. The film , Boyz n the hood follows Tre styles who was sent to live with his father in South central Los Angeles, surrounded by the neighborhood’s booming gang culture. Singleton developed the film as a requirement for application to film school and sold the script to Colombia pictures upon his graduation. The film featured some of the big stars in the entertainment industry including, ice cube, Angela Bassett, Cuba Gooding Jr, Nia Long, Regina King and countless others. The film was a major success and in 2007, Boyz n the hood was selected amount the fifty films to watch in your lifetime by channel 4. 28 years have passed and the film still remains one of the old-time favorites to many people.
