Friday is a 1995 comedy film that was directed by Gary Gray and it featured a group of friends that are unemployed but they have to pay a drug dealer on Friday. The film was written by ice cube and his friend DJ Pooh. The film was the first instalment in the Friday franchise and starred some of the well-known artists and actors including Chris Tucker, Ice Cube, Bernie Mac, Nia Long, John Witherspoon and many more. The film was released in 1995 and it received a lot of critics and it was praised for its comic sequence, writing and even performance. The show received a commercial success. The film gave raise to two successful comedy films, next Friday in 2000 and the Friday after next that was released in 2002.
