One of the best comedies of the Black Film Renaissance of the 2000s , Malcom Lee's Soul Men tragically failed to reach its audience upon its initial release.

. Unfortunately the film failed to deliver box-office gold. Ironically, Bernie Mac and Issac Hayes (who was recovering from a massive stroke but made a brief appearance) transitioned one day apart from one another (August 9 & 10th, respectively) and were unable to promote the film which opened ay #6 on November 7, 2008.
Interesting footnote, Bernie Mac was a voice in Madagascar 2: Escape To Africa, which also opened on the same date, in the #1 slot

Louis (Samuel L. Jackson) and Floyd (Bernie Mac) used to be one of the country's top musical duos, until they broke up and never spoke again. Old animosities resurface 20 years later when the two are thrust together on a cross-country trip to take part in a tribute concert honoring their late band leader. Louis and Floyd have just five short days to bury the hatchet -- hopefully not in someone's head -- before they take the stage at New York's Apollo Theater.
